Gurji, Yaakov (Agazin)
Son of Rivka and Nissan, was born in the city of Mashhad and immigrated to Israel in 1934. At the age of 14, he completed his studies at the elementary school in Afula and became a diligent laborer, He was active in the Haganah from a young age and practiced various exercises, engaged in sports and read books in his free time, and in January 1948 he enlisted in Megiddo and participated in battles against the gangs. On January 2, 1948, he kept a well of Mekorot at the foot of the Nazareth mountains. When the guard finished, when the guards left the car towards Afula, they were attacked by gunfire from the mountains. The guards managed to jump out of the car, but Yaakov was hit by the first bullets and was taken to the hospital in Afula. In his last moments he comforted his parents and silently promoted the face of death. On the 3rd of Adar 2, 5708 (March 14, 1948), he was laid to rest in the cemetery in Afula.
