At the beginning of the War of Independence, he and his friends increased their vigilance in guarding and observing the Arab movements and their preparations across the nearby Syrian border He was sent to the army, but was ordered to stay with the local youth and protect the border of the country He completed training courses, installed the telephone network for positions, always checked the lines and corrected them, and served as a guide to the Palmach and Hish units who came to the settlement and taught them the details of the topography of the surroundings and the places suitable for ambushes, And participated in the raid on Mansoura and was always ready to help everyone. On the day the first truce entered into force on Tuesday, 10.6.1948, the Syrians attacked the settlement, fought against them until the last bullet, standing alone on the balcony of the Segal House, even when they were already inside the settlement and set fire to the houses they had conquered. He fell in front of his mother, who was later taken captive by the Syrians to all the Jews in the village.
