Goldstein, Arieh

The youngest son of Tzipora and Mordecai was born on March 15, 1932, in Tel Aviv, where he moved with his family to the Ziv Institute in Rehovot, where his father was named after him, He studied at an elementary school in his city and from there went on to study at the Max Payne vocational school in Tel Aviv and was a member of the Maccabi Hatzair youth movement. He was active in sports and joined the Gadna youth movement in his city. Above all he loved animals and his place of residence far from the colony led the boy to the love of nature. As the danger to Israel’s roads increased during the War of Independence, he stopped his studies in Tel Aviv and joined the unit at the Weizmann Institute that dealt with the manufacture of weapons in the context of the war effort. On September 18, 1948, an explosion took place in the department where he worked, and Aryeh fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot.
