After completing a course for tank commanders, he was placed in the Canal section. In the army, too, he was quiet and modest and did not say much about himself and his actions, but his actions spoke for themselves. He loved his unit and his tank and managed to get the most out of everything he could. Yossi was kind, and gave in and walked away from Danim. He was in hiding not out of rape but out of character and nature. He had a quiet, good humor and his comrades loved the innocence and maturity that they had. On 24 May 1970, he fell on the banks of the canal in a double clash in an Egyptian ambush that attacked his armored column. The armored column left Kantara to the north and near the end of it the enemy troops ambushed it for hundreds of meters of the embankment.
