Gavtzo, Yehuda


Son of David and Esther. Born in 1940 in Tripoli, Libya, immigrated to Israel in 1950. Studied at the “Talmud Torah” school in Tiberias and completed his studies There, too, he studied at the Histadrut School of Education and Culture and was drafted into the IDF in November 1959 And served in the Navy during his regular service. In Afikim he worked as a mechanic in the wood panel factory, because he excelled in carpentry, and during his spare time he made wooden handicrafts. When he was free, he also liked to play sports and played soccer. Was dedicated to family and work. From time to time he was called up for reserve duty. Was among the first immigrants to the Golan Heights after receiving a call to the flag on the eve of the Six-Day War and in the Battle of Dardre on Sunday, June 9, 1967. He fell on the fifth day of the battles leaving a wife and two daughters,. He was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and was later transferred to eternal rest in the cemetery in Tiberias, and his memory was included in the booklet “Nachshoni HaGolan” published by his battalion.
