Gal (Gigi), Eliahu (“Eli”)

He was born in 1939 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and was educated in a Zionist home that served as a center for national activism, and his family was trained in the Haganah and Eliyahu Chai underground in a Zionist atmosphere and absorbed love for the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. 1950, and began studying at the Magdiel Elementary School in Ramatayim, where he was educated and there he made friendships with his many friends, and as a teenager he became a partner in the Or Gal insurance agency in Kiryat Ata, and was always cheerful and kindhearted. In early February 1957 and completed his regular service. After being discharged from regular army service, he was called up for reserve duty and served as a reservist in the Armored Corps. He excelled as a soldier and as a model, and everyone who knew him loved him. As a reservist he took part in the Six-Day War and took part in the fierce battle that took place in the Dotan Valley when he operated from the half-track for three days and did not abandon him, and he fell at the Bazooka junction in the southern Golan Heights when he encountered a squad of terrorists. It is said that his good laugh did not depart from his face until the very last moment, when he placed a wife and a daughter in eternal mourning in the military cemetery in Haifa.
