Gabze, Lipa


Lipa, son of Sarah and Meir Gabze, was born on 21.9.1916 in Poland and immigrated to Israel on January 1, 1933. He studied at the Amami School in Ra’anana and joined the Massada group. As a member of the Palmach, he participated in responsible and dangerous operations and he spent his entire life dedicated to serving in the Hagana. He was a courageous man, a man of order and discipline, fearless and security matters ahead of all his private affairs. On 28 Tishrei, 31.10.1948, together with his friend Yaakov Rosenzweit, he dealt with the dismantling of hand grenades according to the orders of the Gush command. A grenade exploded in his hands and he was killed on the spot and was laid to rest at the cemetery in Masada.
