Friedman, Ilan

He was born on 9 August 1970 in Paris, the eldest son of his parents, and grew up in an atmosphere of love of opinion and studies at his parents’ home, which were still students at the time of his birth. Ilan attended the children’s kindergarten in Moshav Ben Ami and settled in the children’s company, quickly absorbing the Hebrew language, and continued his studies at the Baron Hirsch Kindergarten in Paris, while the family returned temporarily. In 1975 Ilan immigrated to Israel with his family. The family settled in Netanya, where Ilan studied at the Tachkemoni elementary school. He began his high school studies at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in his hometown and later moved to the Bar Ilan religious high school. He was an organized boy, diligent in his studies and devoted and resourceful to his younger brothers. One of the cases in which he proved resourceful occurred when he was a child, when he managed to rescue his sister from a fire that broke out in their home and help his mother to act coolly. Ilan graduated from Bar-Ilan high school in 1988 and went on a trip abroad. Ilan was recruited to serve in the IDF in early November 1988 and was assigned to serve in the Air Force, in the Equipment Division, and was accepted to study law at the College of Management, but before he began his studies he fell during his service on 14.6.1991 ) And was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Netanya. His parents, two sisters – Galit and Anat and two brothers – Yaniv and Yoav. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Ilan was a dedicated soldier with initiative and perseverance, who served as an example to his friends.” The family dedicated a Torah scroll to a synagogue in Netanya to commemorate his memory.
