Freger, Gershon (Gert)


Son of Betty and Kurt was born on January 25, 1922, in the city of Hanover, Germany, where he acquired a high school education in his hometown. After his release from the army, he worked for a while in agriculture and then returned to work as a driver Immediately after the United Nations General Assembly resolution of 29 November 1947 on the partition of the country into two states and the outbreak of the War of Independence following the decision, Gershon led, on September 19, 1948, 2.12.1947 Jewish laborers from the airport in Kastina. In the Abu Kabir neighborhood, his car was attacked with stones. After he was badly wounded, crowd of Arabs stormed him and stabbed him to death. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
