Freda, Alexander
Son of Anna and Leslie, was born on March 20, 1951 in Russia. He completed 10 years of study in his native country and later began working as a locksmith. At a young age he was orphaned by his father. In Russia he married, the couple had a child, and before he was a full year old, he immigrated to Israel with his family. His mother and brother remained in Russia. The family settled in Neve Ya’akov in Jerusalem and Alexander was hired as a locksmith in the military industry. In February 1979 he enlisted in the IDF and, in accordance with the law that began on new immigrants, completed a short service period in the regular army, where he underwent basic training and was assigned to the Artillery Corps Six weeks after his enlistment, on the 11th of Iyar 5739 (11.5.1979) He was buried at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem and left behind a wife, Raya, and a mother and brothers who remained in Russia, and his unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his wife: “Alexander served in my unit for a short period of six weeks. During this period, he did his job well and demonstrated his ability. “
