Frankovitch, Yaakov (Kobi)


Son of Shoshana (Rosa) and Abraham (Gene), was born on the 29th of Tevet, 21.1.1917 in Italy. At the outbreak of World War II he fought against the Germans and was captured by them, but as an Italian citizen he was released and drafted into the Italian paratroopers. In 1942 he was seriously wounded by the British and taken to a POW camp in Israel. In 1945,Yaakov married Esther, and settled in the Borochov neighborhood. His life in Israel was difficult, but he adapted and overcame many obstacles, and even joined the Haganah. Yaakov faithfully fulfilled the duties assigned to him. Upon the outbreak of the War of Independence, he enlisted in full service and served in the Infantry Unit, and was transferred to the Palmach and to ensure the work of planning officers between Givatayim and Selma. Yaakov fell on the 14th of Adar I, 24.2.1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
