Frank, Benjamin (Werner)


Son of Greta and Nachum was born on January 1, 1919 in the city of Aheln, the state of Westphalia, Germany. He completed high school in his hometown and underwent pioneering training. Benjamin immigrated to Israel in 1938 and joined the Avraham group near Karkur (the founders of Kfar Etzion). In 1939 he left the group and joined the police as a police officer. After his release he marriend settled in Kiryat Haim and worked as a construction worker. He loved music, ran a choir, and learned to play the flute. Every spare moment he devoted to art. From his meager wages, he bought him a treasure trove of records he used to hear at every opportunity. In March 1948, he joined the army and participated in guarding, escorting and escorting convoys. On December 21, 1948, he was wounded in the stomach by a stray bullet and brought to a hospital in Afula. He was operated on and died on December 25, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left a wife, Ruth, and a daughter, who was born two weeks after his death.
