Flinker, Yitzhak Mordechai

Yitzhak, son of Sigmund and Leah, was born in Tel Aviv on May 5, 1952. He completed his first five years of studies at the “Kalir” school in Tel Aviv and completed his elementary studies at the Masada School in Givatayim He completed his high school studies at the “Kalai” school in the real-biological track, and was active in the school’s life and at the end of his eleventh year he took part in a youth exchange delegation that left for Israel. Isaac, the smiling, mischievous, wild-haired man. Here is Yitzhak who believes in his friends in good faith, a loyal friend and loved by all his acquaintances. Yitzhak rebelled against the conventions both at school and at home. In his short life he tried to encompass a whole world. He was haunted by the unrest and was always in a hurry to do more and more … He had an artistic sense and a love for music, but he did everything without commitments and without a frame. He chose time to play and when the wind rested on him he sat at the piano and played and played passionately the tunes he loved, classical music and jazz – all in the heat of the moment. Yitzhak drew and sketched what he loved, on an internal impulse and without authority. He always loved the big open sea and the freedom. Between school and vacations he “jumped” to work in Sharm el-Sheikh. He did not dislike any work if it paid well. He got into the labor market of any kind and as if to make do with his short life-did a little of everything. These are the things that are visible. In the rooms, the other Isaac emerges: the thinker, the thinker, who philosophizes with himself, with life. Only small notes, betrayed by a bereaved father and mother, point to these lines. And here the heart pinched. They preached morality, spurred him on like all parents, worried and anxious about the safety of their children – but Yitzhak remained loyal to his own image. Yitzhak was drafted into the IDF in August 1971. He completed his basic training at the Flight School, where he took a parachuting course, then went on to pursue his military service in the Air Force, In this role, he served throughout the period of his military service, and completed a training course for purification and evacuation, and this course was successfully completed on December 29, 1973. Yitzhak was injured near Nitzanim and fell while carrying out his duties. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “… Yitzchak was a soldier and an excellent professional. In his capacity as inspector in the control tower he took an active part in the operation of the IAF base in El-Arish, which helped the IAF in the difficult days of the Yom Kippur War. In his modest way, Yitzhak did his best to contribute to the joint effort, while emphasizing his good qualities as a man of society and as a team man.”
