Fleischmann, Nachman
Son of Pessia and Shmuel. He was born in February 1923 in Gombin, Poland, and immigrated with his family to Palestine in 1934. At first the family lived in Givatayim where Nachman graduated from the Borochov Jewish school. Four years later, the family moved to Jerusalem where Nachman worked at odd jobs to help support the family. In the evenings he completed his education in various courses, and on the other hand he read a lot of books. Most of his spare time was devoted to the socialist youth movement, where he became known as a member who fulfilled with devotion and enthusiasm all his duties. In 1941, he accepted the call of Yishuv institutions and joined the Jewish settlement police. He served as a guard in the Jerusalem district and soon became fond of his friends and commanders. He fulfilled all his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders and was appreciated. A year later he made friends with a girl of his age who lived in Ra’anana and met him frequently. On October 25, 1942, when he went to visit his friend, he was run over by an army truck. He was laid to rest at the Mount of Olives cemetery. Laid down parents, four sisters and three brothers.
