Feldman, Yakov (Janco)
Son of Yitzhak and Hannah. Born in Cairo, Egypt, on June 30, 1930, he was a cheerful young man and studied at a French elementary school in his hometown, where he excelled as a student and stood out as the leader of the class. After graduating from elementary school, he studied at an English high school there, where he enjoyed sports, participated in competitions and won a swimming competition, and was drafted into the IDF in March 1952, two years after his arrival in Israel. After being released from regular service, he would go to reserve duty whenever he was called and took part in the Sinai Campaign. He continued to study economics and commerce while in Israel. Before the Six Day War he did business in America, but when the war broke out he left his job, returned to Israel and joined the ranks of the fighters. Both in the army and in his civilian life, he displayed courage in performing his duties out of devotion and love. He stood out among his friends with the warmth he had grown up with, his great cleverness and his will. In the export company where he worked, his job involved traveling abroad, but upon returning from his long flights he would fulfill his duties as a dedicated family man. One year before he fell, he became independent and established an import and export company for Israeli products. He aspired to expand and expand Israeli exports. He had many plans and was Simcha for his successful endeavors. He knew how to win the hearts of people and they learned to love and appreciate him as a loyal and manly man. On 7/9/1970, he fell while serving in the Kissufim region in the western Negev, while serving in active reserve duty, leaving a wife and three children and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
