Falk, Avraham-Yaakov
Son of Malka-Shifra and Yitzhak-Aharon, born on the third day of Chanukah (30.12.1929) in Tel Aviv. Avraham-Yaakov was 16 when he joined the army. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he volunteered for full service in the “Givati” brigade. He was among the defenders of son of Shemen and among the pioneers of Jerusalem. Avraham-Yaakov participated in many battles in the hills of Jerusalem, in battles for Mevo’ot Hanegev and was also among the defenders of Negba and its environs. On the night of July 17-18, an operation was held, “Death to the Invader”, with the aim of breaking through the Negev. His company was assigned to conquer the village of Beit Afa. The company broke into the village, but in view of the enemy’s superiority, it was forced to retreat. This battle fell on the 11th of Tammuz (18.7.1948). On the 16th of Shevat 5711 (23.1.1951) he was laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzchak military cemetery.
