Eshel, Ronen


Ronen, son of Rachel and Zvi Eshel, was born in Rishon Letzion in 1977. At the beginning of August 1995, Ronen was recruited for compulsory military service and was assigned to the Artillery Corps. Ronen was trained as a combat soldier and assigned to a front observation team, where he is responsible for firing artillery at enemy targets. Over time, he advanced and became deputy commander of an observation post at the Karkom outpost in the south of Lebanon. On February 26, 1998. Ronen was in the observation post at the Karkum post in southern Lebanon, when the terrorists fired mortar shells at the outpost. Ronen was hit by shrapnel and killed. He was twenty-one years old when he was buried in the military section of the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Ronen left his parents and sister – Sharon.
