Elving, Life Niles
Born in 1930 in the city of Kommel, Sweden; A Protestant Christian who grew up in foster parents. In his youth, he joined the Swedish merchant fleet from which he deserted at the age of eighteen, arrived in Palestine and expressed his desire to join the Hebrew Navy of the newly declared state. In May 1948, he enlisted in the Navy, passed the absorption process and was sent to serve on the Eilat Navy. On July 9, 1948, Egyptian planes boarded Tel Aviv and the ship “Eilat,” which was anchored near the shore, was brought to the Christian cemetery in Jaffa for a full military ceremony and in the presence of a Protestant priest and representatives of A few months later, in November of that year, he was put to rest in a cemetery in his homeland.
