On February 26, 1992, in Wadi al-Ayun in the security zone in Lebanon, Ofer fell in battle, when the ambush of our soldiers came under the fire of terrorists. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. On that day he was about to take a short break and celebrate his twentieth birthday that week. Survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters – Yaron, Benny, Ruby, Vered and Hagit. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, then-defense minister Moshe Arens wrote: “Ofer served in the infantry battalion. He was a soldier who excelled in every mission and listened attentively. He bravely assaulted his soldiers until he was hit. Ofer went willingly on the mission and saw it as a sacred mission.
