Elisha, Shalom

Son of Masuda and Shlomo. He was born in Morocco in 1895. During World War I, he served in the French Foreign Legion and, after immigrating to Israel, settled in Tiberias with his family, working as a shoemaker in the children’s village near Afula. On the night of September 18, 1929, as a guard in the village, he heard rustling from the direction of the cowshed. When he approached the place, he was murdered by robbers who came from the Arab village of Sulam. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kibbutz Merhavia. He left a wife, three daughters, a mother and a sister.
