Eliash, Guy


Son of Deborah and Abraham. He was born on May 10, 1966, in Ramat Gan, where he was a Yaffa baby with blue eyes, large and intelligent, and he learned to read, both out of curiosity and because of his desire to resemble his brother Eyal, who was two years older than him. For eight years he moved with his family to Ra’anana, where he studied at the Meged Elementary School, where he had a hard time getting in touch with the children in the area. He joined the youth movement Ha-Mahanot Ha’olim, he loved the children’s company, he loved trips and camps, he continued his high school in Ostrovsky, He studied literature and poetry, read diverse literature, was interested in and knew several languages, and loved music, he was considered to have a special sense of humor, and as a warrior of justice, who fought for his opinions uncompromisingly. In October 1984 he was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces and enlisted in the Israel Air Force (IAF), where he served in the IDF, In an anti-aircraft unit. After completing basic training, he underwent a course for sergeants and a sergeant course in the professional field, and went on to the officers’ school, where he did not finish. Guy excelled in a developed sense of criticism, which led to better lessons and better work on the various issues in the battalion. In mid-September 1987, during an ambush in the security zone, the ambush encountered terrorists. Guy, who took part in this ambush, emerged victorious. Although the terrorists were not exterminated, their mission was thwarted and they ran for their lives leaving behind their weapons and equipment. For three years, Guy loyally served the battalion and performed its duties impeccably. On the 9th of Tishrei 5748 (October 9, 1987) Guy fell in the line of duty. In the middle of the discharge vacation Guy was called to replace a commander who was supposed to leave the line. During a morning patrol between the outposts on the Lebanese border, the driver lost control of the vehicle, the armored personnel carrier turned over and Guy, who was the commander of the armored personnel carrier and sat in the turret, was blown away and killed. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Ra’anana. Survived by his parents and two brothers – Eyal and Shai.
