Elbaz, Yehuda


Son of Esther and Nissim, was born on July 3, 1963 in Safed. Yehuda’s family lived in Hatzor Haglilit, then moved away and settled in Kfar Saba. Here, Yehuda graduated from the Bar-Ilan religious elementary school. Afterward, he debated how to continue his career, since he wanted to find a place where he could combine high school studies, matriculation certificates, and deep Jewish studies. When he was in the seventh grade, he joined the “Torah” curriculum, which was then an experimental trend in the yeshiva, and Yehuda was deeply interested in Jewish studies and saw religious faith and observance as a personal purpose and mission. After he completed high school, he again faced the choice between serving in the army and going to a hesder yeshivah or high yeshiva, and after deciding on the possibilities, Yehuda decided to continue his studies at the Shilo yeshiva, Torah study with military service Yehuda was drafted into the IDF in mid-April 1982 and was assigned to the IDF, Armored Corps. After completing basic training, he was sent to the Armored Corps School, where he was trained in the tank professions and became a liaison officer. He then returned to the Yeshiva to continue his studies, together with his military service. “One of his teachers wrote:” … Yehuda came to the Shiloh yeshiva with the first students, and the first years required devotion and perseverance in learning so that the yeshiva would be established, and Yehuda devoted himself to the Torah shackle and connected with the bonds of love for the Torah. He was a man of truth and pursued to achieve it with all his might … It was pleasant to be with him because he was open-hearted, and when she criticized him she did not leave him but uttered it. In situations of stress and difficulty he was always optimistic, reassuring and encouraging. During his vacations Judah used to help at home, as he had done in the past as a boy. He was a devoted family member, loved his home and often stayed with his parents, brother and sister.
