In 2003, Avi was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel and appointed to serve as a divisional ammunition officer in Tze’elim. In June 2005 my father was diagnosed with a serious illness. He found strength in his soul, but after a stubborn struggle he fell in the line of duty on 8 March 2006.
