Dudik, Mendel


He was born in 1913 to a family of well-to-do farmers in Korlova, a small town near Zlotov, in eastern Galicia, where Mendel died from his father and became a breadwinner, graduating from high school in Tronopol, and in 1936, “I came to study at the Technion, but mainly to realize the transfer of my enslaved family from a land saturated with self-hatred.” His studies at the Technion were accompanied by hard physical work – fruit loading, coal unloading, portering His last place of work was a pipe factory near the Teber Warehouses, and at the same time worked as a volunteer at Maccabi Esh Was a member of the Haganah organization On November 14, 1938, when Mendel was walking on Allenby Street in Haifa, a shot was fired at him in the stomach. He fought with the shooter and managed to topple him, but was immediately shot again. He was brought to Hadassah Hospital and on the 19th of Heshvan 5639 (19.11.1938) died. Before his death, he said he must have been a victim of the homeland. He was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. He left a mother in Galicia.
