Aryeh (Arieh), son of Shoshana and Yoash, was born on 17 July 1949 in Balfouria, and when he was about two years old, his family moved from Belforia and moved to Afula, where he completed his elementary studies at the Jezreel School. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement, four years as a trainee and a year as a mentor, and in his high school he combined social activities and sports, participated in Gadna activities, went to courses and served as a counselor, Whose name came before him, because he was mature and responsible and had the authority and natural ability to command and guide. In the field of sports, he excelled mainly in the field of basketball and worked extensively in this field as part of Hapoel Afula. Thanks to his physical strength, high stature and physical fitness, he was well integrated in the games and completed a course for basketball instructors at the Wingate Institute and a course for amateur rescuers in Afula. Aryeh was drafted into the IDF at the end of August 1967. He completed three years of study in mathematics and physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his undergraduate studies in these fields, from one semester to the next, With honors. Even during his university studies, he found time for his hobbies and even developed them. He continued to play basketball in the basketball team of the students. He also joined the Dance Company of the Student Union and in 1970, together with the band, toured Africa. This tour received positive acclaim and extensive journalistic coverage in those countries and represented the country with great respect and success. After completing his studies at the university, Aryeh returned to serve in the Israel Defense Forces, but immediately volunteered for an Air Force pilot course and completed it in 1972.
