Dror, Yaakov


Son of Hanania and Rina. He was born on July 17, 1941 in Izmir, Turkey. After the establishment of the State in 1949, the family immigrated to Israel. Jacob soon became absorbed and became a native of the land in every way. He completed his studies at an elementary school in Lod and wanted to continue studying for his matriculation exams, but he was forced to go to work and therefore devoted the Arabs to the matriculation exams. At first he worked in diamond polishing, but because he aspired to the title of an electronics technician, he did so but did not finish two years out of four years of study. He excelled in mathematics and physics and at the same time devoted himself to sports – especially soccer and fishing. When he was drafted into the IDF in May 1959 he served in the Golani brigade and after a training period he continued with several courses (such as squadron and sabotage). Yes there was a guide at the base of the tutorial. In 1961 he was released and since then he has been giving his reserve duty. He was quiet, calm and serious. Once, on his return from reserve duty, his younger sister asked him, among other things, “What if she dies in the army?” And he replied, “This is my country.” His last service was called Ya’akov in the middle of May 1967 and immediately served as a sergeant with the rank of sergeant, and during the period of alert he showed great patience and calmed his friends in times of distress or heated argument, and always encouraged his brother to serve and did not let their spirits fall in their midst. He was seriously wounded by shrapnel, and two days later on the 28th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), he died of his wounds, which was the third day of the battles, and placed a wife and a half-year-old child in a cemetery in Bari He was put to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, and his wife published a booklet in his memory.
