Diner, Ze’ev (Volodya, Wolf)
Son of Berna and Asher (Oscar). Born in 1896 in Odessa, Russia, he studied engineering at the Baron Hirsch vocational school in New York in 1923. In 1923, he immigrated to Palestine and a year later received Israeli citizenship, After the outbreak of World War II, he was one of the first volunteers from the Yishuv to serve in the British army fighting the Germans, and he joined the Engineering Corps and was transferred to the Western Desert, where he participated in the battles of Tobruk. On 27.4.1941, he was injured in an accident in Tobruk, was transferred to a hospital in Cairo and died of his wounds. He was laid to rest at the Cairo military cemetery.
