Diamant, Jacob


Jacob, son of Leah and Joseph, was born on 11.10.1933 in Brussels, Belgium, he joined the IDF in the middle of July 1952 and was assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing his basic training, he completed an Armored Corps course and was sent to a course for squad commanders. Since he was very successful as a commander, he was sent to the officers’ course and was one of the graduates of the IDF’s first armored officers course, and his direct commander attests that he was an excellent officer of a comfortable and honest nature. After completing his regular service, Jackie traveled to Charleroi, Belgium, to study at the local university, where he became a company engineer, and in 1965 he married his girlfriend Judith Licha. Jackie, commander of the tank division, was among the fighters who liberated Jerusalem, the capital of Israel “The Temple Mount is in our hands.” In the Yom Kippur War, Jacky participated in the battles in the Golan Heights as deputy commander of the company, Tanks On the 13th of Tishrei 5734 (October 9, 1973), his tank was hit in the battle and he was killed, brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery, leaving behind a wife and son, parents and two brothers.
