Degani (Solominsky), Elihu


Eliahu, son of Geula and Shraga, was born on the 27th of Sivan 5711 (July 2, 1951) in Tel Aviv. Elihu was drafted into the IDF in early 1969 and volunteered for a celebrated infantry commando unit. After completing basic training and serving in the command company, he was transferred to the Armored Corps, completed a tank course, and was assigned as a “Centurion” tank driver in the Armored Corps. He began his studies in tank commanders’ course but did not finish. Because of his poor health – he had severe pains in his knees – his medical profile was taken down and he was transferred to the General Service and served as a clerk in the main platoon. After he was released from regular army service, he was assigned to reserve duty in the Haganah, and when he went out to civilian life, Eli managed to fulfill his lifelong passion and opened a record store for music and music in Tel Aviv, where he enjoyed his day and enjoyed his work.He participated in battles in Sinai as a tank driver, and on the day On the 23rd of Tishrei 5734 (23.10.1973), in an Armored Corps armored vehicle on the Jidi axis, north of the bitter lake, against the large forces of the Third Army of the Egyptians, his tank was hit directly and Eli was killed. In Petah Tikva he left behind his parents, brother and sister, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
