Shimon was a devoted father and friend of his children, a loving and beloved family man. On the 27th of Tishrei 5757 (27.9.1996), Commander Shimon was killed in a shooting incident of Palestinians in the area of ​​the Border Police base in Tulkarem, at the age of forty-six. He was buried in the Kfar Sava cemetery, leaving a woman, two children and seven brothers In the place of the fall, Gilad was built in memory of Shimon, and a synagogue was erected in memory of Shimon in Border Police companies. In memory of Shimon, a football tournament was held in Kfar Saba organized by the municipal sports department.
