Dar, Yosef (Sefi)

Dar, Yosef (Sefi)

Ben Sarah and David. He was born on February 23, 1972 in Tel Aviv. His name was given to him in memory of his grandfather and the memory of his cousin, who fell in a clash with terrorists in Gaza in 1969. In 1977-1974 he lived with his family on Kibbutz Gan Shmuel. When he was six years old, the family moved to Bat Yam. He attended the Jubilee State Elementary School in Bat Yam. Yosef continued his studies at the ORT Milton Technical High School, specializing in control equipment and robotics. Sefi, his friends and family, affectionately called him. He was a mischievous boy, but unruly, seeking an exemplary order, courteous, affectionate, and friendly. Among his classmates he stood out for his modesty and the way he treated those around him. Was loved by everyone. Sefi loved his computer and sports activities – basketball and ping-pong, and even played a lot of chess. He excelled in everything he loved and dealt with. He was affectionate and caring for animals, and was generally content with a small and timid man. He was diligent, practical and thorough and did everything perfectly. At school, he taught his teachers an example of “order and exemplary” and told the class. In one of his essays, which summed up a class trip, his teacher wrote that she was happy to participate in a trip that Safi instructed. At the beginning of September 1990, Sefi was drafted into the IDF and stationed at the base of an anti-tank center on September 8, 1990. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon, leaving behind his parents and two sisters, Orit and Niva. “In his first days in the army – unfortunately for the last few days – Joseph managed to leave a good and positive impression on his commanders and friends. A family that knew that bereavement in the past understands more than anything that consoling words can do is alleviate the pain. The soldiers and commanders of the company – with you. “
