Dandecker, Revital


Daughter of Sima and Sasson. Born on July 6, 1977 in Dimona, a nurse to Bat-Sheva, Ronen, Galit and Matan, Revital studied at Ami-Assaf Elementary School and at the Zilman High School in the theoretical track. Prior to her induction into the IDF, she discovered that due to medical problems, she was not fit for service. For Revital, who was looking forward to the long-awaited recruitment day, it was a bitter disappointment. She fought a persistent and stubborn struggle against the decision, and after much effort her struggle was fruitful and it was decided to enlist her in compulsory service as a regular soldier. In April 1996, Revital enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, and as a technical officer, she was described by her commanders as a diligent and disciplined soldier with a high personal and professional level who showed great willingness to contribute and invest beyond what was needed. She took care to be polite and courteous to all of her friends and friends, and was eagerly awaiting the day of liberation, after which she would be able to stand on her own for the first time. The date of her release from the IDF on November 6, 1997; Revital Merkav is traveling in the Ketziot area for fear of being abducted, and was critically wounded. She fought for four days on her life at Soroka Hospital and died on the 30th of December 1997 when she was 20. Revital was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Dimona, leaving behind her parents, two sisters and two brothers. The sergeant wrote to the family: “… sergeant Revital served in the platoon for about 17 months. Every task assigned to her was performed in the best possible way, with dedication and tremendous personal responsibility. Despite her medical problems, Revital did not complain and did not give up on any job she performed … We knew Revital as an excellent soldier and a wonderful person … “Her parents commemorated her purchase of a Torah scroll that was placed in the synagogue in their Dimona neighborhood.
