Cohen, Tal

Ben Hanna and Ezra. He was born on August 15, 1973 in Maoz Haim. Tal was born after two sons – Shahar and Tzafrir – and when he was four years old, Ziv was born to the family. Tal was second generation to the residents of Beit Shean Valley – his mother was born in Kibbutz Mesilot and his father was second generation to the founders of Kibbutz Maoz Haim. Tal’s grandfather was killed in 1948. During the bombardment of Kibbutz Mesilot, Tal studied at the elementary school in Maoz Haim, went on to junior high school in Neve Eitan, and graduated from the General Comprehensive School in Beit Shean in mechanics. In the middle of March 1992, Tal joined the IDF. He was assigned to the Armored Corps and served as a chariot. Tal was an outstanding and devoted soldier, responsible and loved by his friends. On February 7, 1994, during an operation aimed at thwarting terrorist activities in the area, an anti-tank shell penetrated his tank and hit the soldiers who were in it, and killed Yoav Har-Shoshanim, Staff Sergeant Gal Lev Levinson and Sergeant Nir Evron, who was brought to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Maoz Haim, aged 20. He left behind his parents and three brothers, and his battalion commander said: “He was a good friend and above all a human being.” After his death, Tal was promoted to sergeant.
