Cohen, Rahamim (Rahmu-Ariel)


Son of Avraham and Sophie. He was born on August 8, 1958, in Moshav Beit Zayit, near Jerusalem. He began studying at the regional elementary school in the moshav, and when his parents moved to Tel Aviv he continued his studies at the Graz Elementary School in the city. The transition from the mountain to the lowlands, the different atmosphere and the different form of study disturbed very pity, and the adaptations were numerous. Rahamim went to a boarding school in Kiryat Tivon for a certain period of time and completed his studies at the Iron School in Hadera. Prior to his induction, he was accepted to the IAI for an aircraft-building course and worked as an aircraft engineer. Rahamim was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of May 1976 and volunteered for the paratroopers, and after serving as a driver at the headquarters of one of the units, on February 17, 1977, Rahamim fell in his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, four sisters and a brother. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Rahamim served in the unit as a driver and fulfilled his duties faithfully, conscientiously and in an excellent manner.” The commanders and soldiers of the unit are full of admiration for his actions and bow their heads on his fresh grave,
