Cohen, Mordechai (Motke)


Born in Tel Aviv on January 21, 1929. He studied at the Tel Nordoi School and excelled in the students’ sports activities, and later completed a course in commerce and worked as a book- From the age of 14, he was a member of the Haganah and participated as a member of the Haganah in underground operations (“Wingate Night” etc.), training and patrols, and later on protecting the borders of Tel Aviv, the Hatikva neighborhood and the Abu Kabir, and so’. He served in the Second Battalion of the “Hayash” unit in Tel Aviv, was transferred to the Givati ​​Brigade and embarked on Operation Nachshon. He participated in the occupation of Dir Muhsin, the Arab Hulda, in the battles to protect the convoys to Jerusalem. He returned to his regiment and participated in many battles on the southern front and in the activities of the Shimshon Foxes, during which he completed a paramedics course and returned to serve as a company medic, and went with his company to attack the ” Along the Burma Road, south of the Iraqi-Suweidan police. Mordechai approached the barbed wire fence of the enemy in order to rescue a wounded friend who remained stuck there during the retreat, and was injured and fell on the day of Tishrei 5709 (2/11/1948). His body was found only after eight and a half months and was put to rest at the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery on July 11, 1949.
