Ben Sarah and Yehezkel. He was born on Tu B’Av 5761 (6.8.1971) in Tiberias. He attended the Erlich elementary school in his city. He completed his studies at the “Youth Center” in Tiberias, in the construction electricity track. Yaakov was a sports fan and played in the Ahva soccer team. He was serious, shy and without high demands. At the same time, it was very common in society and often helped others. This is how his uncle, Rami Mizrahi, wrote about him: “You were always cute, you loved all your love.” “The smile, the shyness and the honor you have always known to give, whether to an adult or a small child, we have been proud of you, we have respected you as you have honored us.” Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in mid-August 1989. After completing basic training, he was sent to the Golan Heights as a disciplinary sergeant, and his commanding officer was a disciplined soldier who did his job well. And to help support the family, but unfortunately did not achieve his plans. On April 23, 1992, Jacob fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Tiberias. Survived by his parents, three brothers and a sister – Effi, Ronen, Yaniv and Osnat. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Your son, the late Sergeant Yaakov Cohen, served in my unit for nearly three years as a symbol of discipline and fulfilled his duties with dedication and diligence.
