Chitait, Nissim


Son of Eliyahu and Chekhla. He was born in Baghdad in 1922. After completing his high school studies, he studied law for three years, where he belonged to a Zionist youth movement and was particularly active in smuggling people to Israel, until finally he escaped, but was caught on the way and imprisoned for three months He returned to Baghdad and worked there voluntarily on the organization of Aliya, and finally he arrived in Israel and opened a new page in his life, where he studied agriculture management at Kfar Vitkin and was accepted by the people there, and then spent a year at Kibbutz Shilo. He was forced to do clerical work and began to work in the mail, where he was also admired by his friends and was drafted into the IDF in June 1954. On Thursday, Tu (03/28/1955) fell while carrying out his duties and was laid-rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
