Caspo, Abraham


Avraham, son of Brina and Hershko, was born on May 5, 1948 in Mohelani, Romania. In 1958, he immigrated to Israel and studied at the Chabad elementary school and the ORT school in Jerusalem, where he studied elementary school in Romania, where he studied in mechanical engineering, and enjoyed sports and music. He was a nice man, admired for his friends and friends, and his behavior was always quiet, serious and restrained, yet he was very energetic, fit with workmanship, perseverance, and skill of execution. Avraham was drafted into the IDF in early November 1966 and served in the Armored Corps. He was an outstanding armored car and was considered a talented driver and gunner in all types of tanks: Sherman, Centurion and Patton. In his words of appreciation, his commander wrote that Avraham was an excellent soldier and a dedicated friend, admired by his commanders and comrades-in-arms. After his discharge from the regular service, Avraham was accepted into the IAI as a mechanical frame. During the Yom Kippur War, he fought as a tank crew member in the Armored Corps, which participated in the battles in the Golan Heights and in the attack into Syrian territory. While advancing on the axis into the Syrian enclave, west of Khan-Arnabeh, Abraham’s tank was hit and he was hit and killed on the day of Tu Bishvat (October 11, 1973). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by a mother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
