Caspi, Arie (“Arik”)
Son of Tuvia and Hannah. He was born on February 1, 1935 in Tel Aviv. He completed his studies at the Hebrew Gymnasium “Herzliya”. He belonged to the Scouts movement. With the consent of his parents, he joined the IDF at the age of seventeen and before an officers’ course was a platoon commander and a platoon commander in the Nahal paramilitary brigade, a counselor in the training camp, and a youth counselor from South Africa. He took part in several combat operations (such as Qalqiliya and Husan), and showed courage and heroism in his actions. On the eve of his departure for Sinai, he wrote to his parents: “You know as well as I can that otherwise, and in any case know that we are here Are walking out of full awareness of the need. “He was chosen to lead the column that broke out at the Mitla Pass and fell there on the 26th of Mishvan 5710 (October 31, 1956) and was buried in the Military Cemetery at Shachal. On the 28th of Tishrei 5758 (23.10.1957) he was put to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the Montefiore neighborhood, which is the last neighborhood of his residence, a youth-cultural club was established by the Tel Aviv Municipality, which bears the name of Aryeh, who spent much of his time guiding youth. “Ten Years Later” is the title of the pamphlet that appeared in his memory in 1966. His memory was raised in Uri Milstein’s book, “The Paratroop Wars.”
