Carmel, Meir


Meir, son of Tzila and David Carmel, was born in Haifa in 1958. On November 3, 1976, Meir enlisted in the IDF. He served in the Ordnance Corps. Meir’s last position, since 2001, was the representative of the Military Ordnance Unit Spare parts in the central region. As part of his duties, Meir served the forces in Lebanon during the wars in 1982 and 2006. On May 1994, Meir was awarded an outstanding certificate on behalf of the GOC Southern Command. In 2007, he was awarded a lifetime achievement as a chief ordnance officer, in recognition of his work. Meir fell in the line of duty on the 17th of Tammuz 5763, June 25, 2013. He was fifty-five years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon.
