Captan, Aaron


Son of Avraham. He was born in 1916 in Annapol, Poland, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1932. He lived in Tel Aviv and worked in various jobs, including shipping, and during World War II he enlisted in the British army and was assigned to the British Expeditionary Force, In the end of April 1941, the British army surrendered to the Germans. The Germans captured most of its soldiers, including Aaron, but he managed to escape and was in hiding for a long time, eventually being captured and transferred to a POW camp in Germany. He eventually returned to Israel and for a short time served in the IDF. On the 22nd of October, 1945, 15 Cheshvan, he died of an illness and was laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery
