Medical restrictions prevented Marcus from continuing his studies. He started working in a metal shop and acquired a profession. At the same time, he also helped his father in his business – selling vegetables. He worked hard, but he was Simcha that he could lend a hand to support his large family. Medical reasons were not accepted by the IDF, but Marcus asked for a second examination, volunteered for service and was drafted into the IDF for short service. During this service he fell in the line of duty on Wednesday, 9.9.1975, and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, where he left behind his parents, five sisters and four brothers. Served in the unit for about six months. He did his job with great devotion and devoted great effort to advancing the state’s affairs.
