Buenish, Shmuel


Shmuel, son of Salameh and Roger (Eli), was born on 22 April 1951 in Lod and completed his studies at the elementary school in Lod. Shmuel was a diligent and friendly young man, very fond of his friends and teachers at school. He loved sports, especially swimming, and during his free time he wrote poetry. He was naturally optimistic, of a manly nature, loved to spend and dance, but at the same time he had a good and sensitive Lev and was always willing to help everyone with advice and action. Shmuel was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of May 1969 and was assigned to the infantry corps, after which he was trained as a rifleman, and everyone recognized him as an outstanding soldier. Shmuel was very close to his family, his parents, his brothers and sisters, and of course his wife, who married shortly before the outbreak of the war.In the Yom Kippur War Shmuel fought against the defense of the “Oracle” stronghold on the Suez Canal, On October 7, 1973, Samuel was killed and killed He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem and left behind a pregnant wife (his son, who was born after his fall, named after him), parents, two brothers and a sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote that Shmuel fought heroically in the “Oracle” stronghold where he fell, and that during his service in the unit, he discovered qualities of a man and a model warrior.
