Broitman, Michael (Michel)


Was born in 1881 in the city of Kirov, Poland, which was part of Tsarist Russia. Michael belonged to the Zionist organization in his city and was an active member of it. Michael was married and had five children. In the spring of 1921 he took his two eldest sons and immigrated to Eretz Israel. The intention was that once they were established in Israel, the rest of the family would also come to Israel. Michael and his sons arrived in Israel at the end of April 1921 and were transferred to the immigrants’ home on the outskirts of Jaffa. At the outbreak of the riots of 1921, on the day of the 23rd of Nisan (May 21, 1921), many Arabs attacked the home of the immigrants, killing and injuring many of its inhabitants, killing Michael and his eldest son Efraim was seriously injured.
