Broitmacher, Josef


Son of Feiga and Leibl. He was born in 1915 in Lvov, Poland, where he joined the Betar movement and was a guide. In 1934 he immigrated to Palestine illegally, was caught and imprisoned in prison. When he immigrated to Israel he changed his name to Falkowitz in order to blur his identity. After his discharge, he joined the ranks of the Haganah, volunteered for the Nutras and was in the service of the railway guards. On the evening of the 6th of Iyar, 5639 (24.4.1939), while standing guard near the eastern railway station in Haifa, he was shot and ambushed. He was buried in Haifa.
