Bouskila, Abraham (“Avi”)

Son of Yaish and Sa’ada. He was born on May 17, 1958 in Moshav Sde-David. He completed his studies at Nahora Elementary School, continued at ORT Ashkelon High School, and when he finished his ninth grade he went to work to help his father in the farm. My father was known in the moshav as a devoted and loyal son to his parents, always trying to help them as best he could. He was kind, kind and friendly. He had many friends and they loved him like a brother, and he spent most of his time with them. But sometimes he would like to be alone, to walk in the fields, to feel close to the earth and to admire the beauty of the surroundings. My father excelled as an athlete. He played soccer in the Hapoel Sde-David team. In 1975 he won the Youth Weightlifting Championship in the framework of Hapoel Nehora. As his recruitment approached, Avi was very Simcha and full of expectations. Volunteering was inherent in his character and he wanted very much to contribute as much as he could to a combat unit. My father was drafted into the IDF in mid-April 1976 and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade, where he completed a platoon training course, and his commanders were very pleased with his rapid integration into the unit, and Avi was Simcha, as he put it, “for having been part of the Paratroopers’ family.” On May 10, 1977, Avi fell in his role as a helicopter crash in the Jordan Valley, killing 54 soldiers, and was brought to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, leaving behind his parents, brothers and sisters. The bereaved commander wrote: “You belong to the glorious paratrooper family, which sacrificed many sacrifices on the altar of the security of the people and the state, and I hope The right of your son and his paratroopers never know war no more. Forever we will remember Avi. “To commemorate his memory, a weight lifting group was established in Nahora, which bears the name ‘Hapoel Avraham-Nehora’.
