Blumenthal, Solomon (Vigbert, Manfred)


Son of Shoshana and Mordechai, was born on 14.12.1928 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In July 1934 he immigrated to Israel on the “Galila”. In Israel he completed his studies at the elementary school in Herzliya in 1944 and began working in the elevator factory “Albator” in Tel Aviv. In order to complete his education, he studied in the evening for a year and a half at the Max Payne Professional School. From the age of 12 he was a member of the Haganah and immediately after the UN General Assembly he joined the Palmach as a member of the “Hagibor” recruits in Kibbutz Yagur and served in the Haemek Battalion. He was a loyal son of his home and homeland. In his last letter – a greeting letter to his mother’s birthday – he wrote: “Your son’s blessing, which is now far from the house, does everything that time demands. Shlomo fell in battle on Zerayn on the 21st of Nissan 5708 (21.4.1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kfar Yehezkel.
