Bloomberg, Yosef

Bloomberg, Yosef

Yosef, son of Shoshana and Moshe Bloomberg, was born in 1908 in Latvia (then part of Russia) and grew up in a pious household. His childhood was spent in the turbulent atmosphere of the end of the First World War. In 1925 he immigrated to Israel and was 17 years old. Joseph worked for many years as a laborer and later as a foreman. He was an active member of the Haganah and was one of its main members. On June 9, 1948, at the time of the battle to conquer the village of Lubia, he was ordered to send two fighters to a special operation. Due to the danger of this, Yosef decided to take action as one of the two fighters. He left and did not return. He left behind a wife and two children. Yosef was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Beit-Gan.
