Bloom, Blue (Jacob)
Son of Sonia and Matvey. He was born on December 6, 1955 in the Soviet Union and immigrated to Israel with his mother and brother in 1973. He completed his elementary and high school studies in Lithuania. When he arrived in Israel, he studied Hebrew at an ulpan in Kibbutz Sdot Yam and Petah Tikva, and also studied for a year at the preparatory program of the engineering school in Be’er Sheva. In mid-February 1975, he was drafted into the IDF, and after his basic training he was assigned to the General Staff as a warehouse clerk, and after his regular service he wrote that he had a working ability with an audience and that he was quick- A. In 1982 he married Ella and over the years their two sons, Assaf and Yaron, were born. Blue worked as an accountant in a building contractor company, in which he shared with his two friends. His friends say he was honest, smart, sociable and lively. On the fifteenth of Nissan 5742 (April 15, 1992) while serving in reserve duty, Belo fell while fulfilling his duties and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Rishon LeZion. He left behind a wife, two sons and a brother – Lev. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Blue did his job well, performed his duty with dedication and without fault, while being prepared to reserve duty and take part in the burden of the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces.”
