Biton, Maimon


Son of Simi and Yehia, he was was born on February 15, 1963, in Tiberias. He was a member of a large family. He studied at the elementary school in Shikun Gimel in Tiberias and then continued his high school studies in the city’s youth center, in the field of electricity. Maimon was a sports fan and especially loved football. He devoted himself to his profession as an electrician, and hoped to use his professional knowledge during his service in the regular army. In February 1981 he enlisted in the IDF, where he underwent basic training and volunteered to serve in the Border Police. When the Peace for Galilee War broke out he went with his unit in Lebanon, where he was employed in routine security duties. On 25 Kislev, 11.11.1982, the building he was in collapsed due to a gas explosion and buried its residents, among them Maimon, 19. He was buried in the military cemetery in Tiberias and left behind his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
